Students and their parents visit our Junior School Library for a variety of reasons. They may be borrowing books to read for recreation or by their favourite authors, or to support their classroom reading program, or to find answers to questions and explore personal interests.
Students also spend time in the library using the resources with support from the teacher Librarian to research into PYP Units of Inquiry.
Students can enjoy visiting the library during their lunch break to read, research, play board games, do puzzles along with colouring, drawing and making. Year 6 students can become a library monitor and assist in making the library facilities available to students at lunch time.
Many students participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge which is supported by our well-resourced library.
The library provides another rich learning space, and we are very grateful for the support of library staff and volunteers in such a busy and vibrant part of our Junior School.
At the Middle and Senior School Library, we are passionate about encouraging a love of reading and lifelong learning.
Our library staff will guide, instruct and support students as they develop essential information literacy skills. We help with resource queries and assist our students in selecting a great read that suits their interests, needs and abilities.
The library offers a significant and well-curated range of books, journals and digital resources. Our Librarians work with teaching staff to ensure we can provide relevant and high quality materials to support our curriculum.
There is access and support provided to our multimedia equipment, a printing hub and charging station.
We share and celebrate special events, significant days and host a range of clubs and activities. We value our role as an inclusive and vibrant central learning hub, that supports our whole school community.
‘Oliver’, is our online library portal. Students can use Oliver to track their own loans and search the catalogue for resources to support their reading and learning. The portal also provides access to our ebook and audio book collection, Newsbank and other online resources.
